Latest with school and knee

So still havent made a decision, but really wnated to wait until my exams were over and they are now but before I go any further I think it is time I had a rest and relaxed a little. So going to make a decision in a couple of weeks. Still in a lot of pain and on a lot of medication which I cant see changing for a little while. So have finally left school less stress around my health now because of leaving school meaning I can focus on what will be best for me in that instance and doing it when I am ready which I couldnt really do when at school which made it more stressful. Just sorting out my university stuff at the moment whilst having a couple of weeks of relaxation so will have to wait and find out what happens and how things turn out.

Big Decisions to Make !!

So I went to Manchester on Friday the 27th of April for an appointment with the surgeon who I work with up there, and now I have the big decision to make. Do I go for PRP for the third time although I am not convinced with how well it works, or do I have what I had done in 2010 repeated, which involves an excision, debridement, repair and reconstruction along with a clean up of the joint. I just dont know what too do, there are pros and cons to each of the choices, I am going back to see my surgeon at Pinehill to get his view but apart from that I am at a loss of what too do !  So thats the latest, I will keep you updated with my decision !

Still Looking !

So its almost 5 years to the day that this all began, I have recently had another ultrasound scan to see how things are prgressing and it is not looking good, but I am back up to Manchester on Friday to see Mr Paul and see what his views are. If that does not work I am hoping Mr Chatoo will take me on as a full-time patient again.
The scan didnt exactly turn out well, but hopefully somebody will come up with something some time soon, I spoke to Mr R Klitzman who is based in Chicago again the other day and I will be sending my stuff over to him and he will give an opinion on what is going on, but in the meantime I will carry on looking over in the UK.

Ohh Dear Downhill we go!!

So, I had op number five in January, painful to say the least but not really feeling many benefits from it just yet but still got just over a month to go before I have to go back and see the surgeon in Manchester. So I have carried on looking around for surgeons to see if anyone can give me a more permanent solution, and the latest person I tried was Mr Aldridge in Bristol, his credentials were good and I thought I would take a punt. Unfortunately he could not offer me anything, but whilst he was looking at my background a drop in my health happened. CRPS a condition that effects the nervous system has suddenly got worse, therefore my medication has been changed from Gabapentin to Pregabaline, this is a potent medication however it seems to be doing the trick. When all this happened I was in agony and now I am feeling a lot more like myself again.
Unfortunately today whilst at school I had a slight accident and my knee twisted underneath me so at this moment in time I think I have torn something as I heard a huge pop/bang in my knee, thankfully it was my right knee so there are some positives in it but that doesnt make it any easier, I am debating whether to tell my surgeon or not or see how it goes. Will just have to wait and see and keep you posted. I have been icing it but it is quite severely bruised and swollen so will have to rest this weekend and take it easy which is just what I needed a lazy weekend, where I dont think about my health and can just relax its just a shame it wont last.

Op No 5

Operation number 5 was last week, in Manchester, all went well as far as I know, only supposed to give me temporary relief but see if it lasts longer than it did last time. Still very painful but getting on with things, signed off sick for two weeks as unfit to work and back to the consultant in Manchester on Monday, should be a long drive especially when my recovery is based in Portsmouth. But back up to Stevenage on the 31st of this month and back to school then too Harpenden for another Orthopaedic consultants appointment should be interesting. Sadly dont think the op is gunna last long but we will seee, I will keep you updated. If anyone wants any advice or wants to ask questions, feel free. x

yet another surgeon

so after emailing a lot more surgeons to see if they could do anything,, it looks like there is some hope as a surgeon near my hometown of stevenage wants to see me, the surgeon is based in Harpenden and is sure that something can be done --- finally something positive and more permanent may happen as opposed to only temporary solutions yet it still get me out of the operation have on the 12th of January :-(
